Missing Ink Installation Guide

Hi everyone,

The installers for The Missing Ink aren't complete, so for now, here's what you need to do to install the game:

Windows
* Download the Windows version from this page http://www.missing-ink.com/download.php
* Double-click the .exe file to start the installer
* Click "Install" to start the installation process
* If you don't have Microsoft .NET 4.0 Client Profile installed, it will download and install it for you. This could take a good 5 or 10 minutes depending on your connection speed
* You'll then be presented with the license agreement, agree and continue
* Now you'll be able to choose where the game gets installed, and whether you want start menu and desktop shortcuts
* If you want to uninstall the game, go to Start->Control Panel->Programs->Programs and Features and uni
* To run the game, either double-click the desktop shortcut that is created when the installer runs, or go to Start->All Programs->The Missing Ink->The Missing Ink

Mac OS X
* You'll need to install the mono framework runtime to run the game, download it from http://www.mono-project.com/download make sure it's the "runtime" that you download!
* Download the Mac OS X version of The Missing Ink from this page http://www.missing-ink.com/download.php
* Double click on the zip file to start extracting it with archive utility
* When it's done extracting, you can double-click on the app to launch the game
* Optionally you can drag the app into your "Applications" folder

You should update the website client, so it can go fullscreen, because some peoples parents would not allow installation of the game, but at the same time, the players would like the extra benefits of the client.

-Although the downloaded game client will most likely run better then the website client.

Good, because I have some friends who want the full screen.

-I am currently working on handing out some ALPHA BETA Keys, to some people online, that I know love to BETA test games. I am going to post some information/links about TMI on other known BIG SITES, in hope that we get some more Testers. Wish me luck.

If I.. Oh, lets say.. Move the game from "C:\Program Files (x86)\RedBedlam\The Missing Ink" to "I:\Games\The Missing Ink," will the launcher complain at me or would there be other things I have to manually change before being able to move the game?

You have to move all the launcher files aswell, and edit them, to run the game console from the new file location.

The launcher works with relative paths so it should work fine. The only issue is that if you run the uninstall option from the installer file, it won't find and delete your game files, so you'll have to delete them manually. You'll also have to redirect your shortcut to the new location if you want to carry on using it. In future we'll put in the ability to choose where the game installs!

I had to "chmod 777 The Missing Ink.app/Contents/MacOS/launch"
before the application started up.

Hi, first of all, it's a really great game you guys have got here.

But an issue I'd like to raise is regarding the documentation of how to install the game. Perhaps this thread could be linked to from the "Download" section? This would certainly help a great deal of people out in installing their game.
