PvP Question

Postby Jorvych » Sat Jan 14, 2012 5:53 pm

I don't even know if there is a way to turn pvp off. I'm assuming it's the two swords at the top left of the screen. Anyway, I'm tired of this world pvp thing. I keep getting my butt whooped by groups of guys who decide it's an awesome idea to attack people with better-than-wood weapons. So.. yeah. I'd love some help of this lolol.

i agree. the pvp should be limited to lvl ranges. i seen lvl 7 characters attacking lvl 1 and 2. i think you should be limited to attacking characters with in their own level ranges. also i've noticed even if your not in pvp mode you can get attacked by pvp'ers. it happened to me. it also seems the button to turn off pvp takes some time to respond.

PVP should be off by default unless you attack a player that's been toggled on for PVP so you should be safe.

If you have PVP on (if you can see the glowing red flags with the crossed swords at either side of your level marker) you will be able to turn it off after a short interval by pressing the flag on the top bar of the inventory.

There is a delay after toggling on and after damaging a PVP enabled player so that you're not able to kill players then toggle it off before they or anyone else can get revenge.

PVP should also be toggled off when you respawn after death.

Mine appears on when I log in, and turns on when I attack anything. It's really weird.

There is an in-combat indicator that appears either side of your level when you engage NPCs. This looks like a sword and shield on a gold background. The PVP-enabled indicator is the red flag with crossed swords, exactly the same as the toggle button in the top left.

If it's definitely the PVP-flag thats popping up whenever you attack things that aren't other hostile players, then that would seem to be a bug! If you do ever find yourself apparently PVP-enabled, and the button in the top left is active, you should be able to toggle yourself off.

PVP is currently a work-in-progress, we plan to add a lot more structure to it in order to make it less trouble and more fun!

Alright, but it'll turn back on randomly. Sometimes 5 minutes after, sometimes 2. But surely every time I enter combat.

We can't seem to recreate this, but we'll continue to keep an eye on it. As I said above, the PVP system will be undergoing a lot of changes as it's fleshed out, which should hopefully negate these issues.

I too am having a pvp problem. If I click on a player that is in pvp accidentally, I am put into pvp most times I don't even notice it. I would love to see a 'never turn on pvp' mode or something that says 'are you sure you want to pvp' for the hard core pvp'ers maybe a toggle that says never warn me about entering pvp mode.

also when I click the swords to turn off pvp the button toggles but my friend tells me I am still in pvp, which he nicely demonstrated by killing me when I would not believe him (thanks Cam)

I've always been one to teach things in a practical way, so you're welcome, Afira :) On topic though, I agree that I would like confirmation before entering PvP. On occasion I didn't even realize I had clicked a player in PvP and entered the mode myself by accident. The game is amazingly well done for an alpha though and I look forward to seeing the game progress.

I hope that I am able to 'teach' you some things in a practical way in the near future :)
